Welcome to Cowal.

Cowal is a part of Argyll that sits on the east of Loch Fyne and stretches across eastwards and ends west of Helensburgh. Cowal is easily and quickly accessible from Glasgow in a relatively short travel time.
Cowal was made popular by the steamers that travelled regularly from Glasgow and the Clyde and it is still possible to access Cowal by modern day ferry. The only steamer that currently carries passengers to Cowal is the Waverley paddle steamer which runs through the summer months.
The largest town in Cowal is Dunoon, a reasonably busy and bustling place, as are other towns near by such as Rothesay. Dunoon can be accessed by car, via the Rest and Be Thankful from Glasgow or alternatively by ferry from Gourock on the Greenock coast.
Cowal has a forty seven mile walk, the Cowal Way which is a waymarked footpath that starts at Portavadie on the shore of Loch Fyne (where the car and passenger ferry runs between Tarbert and Portavadie) and Ardgarten
The Kyles of Bute, which can be seen clearly whilst on Cowal are a reasonably spectacular sight, and the water that surrounds Cowal are renowned for their attraction for sailing, with loch Fyne holding the annual Scottish Series Yacht Race and Tighnabruaich home to a popular sailing school.
For eating out, the popular An Lochan (formerly The Royal Hotel) Tighnabruaich is a welcoming place to eat, with other select hotels and restuarants scattered throughout the Cowal Peninsula worth exploring.
For self catering accommodation, there is simply no comparison to Ardmarnoch Estate, a 700 private estate featuring a walled garden, a completely restored estate mansion and three superb self catering cottages in peace and tranquility.
Cowal offers a relaxing and shapely vista with plenty of walks, lochs for fishing, the attraction of some great accommodation and some testing golf courses. All topped off with some great places to eat fresh local produce.
More information will be added here on Cowal and its attractions in due course. Please visit back and check out all about Cowal.
